When: SCHOOL YEAR: Monday- Friday, 20-25 hours per week, occasional evenings or a Saturday for family engagement and school events. SUMMER: Monday through Friday, 25-30 hours per week, with an occasional Saturday for family engagement.

The Program Assistant works directly with students, overseeing them during programming, managing behavior, and ensuring their safety while guaranteeing ConnectiKids’ mission is upheld throughout the complete program from October to August.

Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must have at least 1-2 years of experience working with groups of youth ages 5 – 17.
- Must multi-task, work well with groups of youth and individual children, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have own form of transportation.
- Flexible schedule for special events and programs
- Must be organized, timely, detail-oriented, and have excellent communication skills.
- Microsoft Office application skills: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to understand and communicate complex work-related instructions and problems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Hold a valid driver's license and registered and insured vehicle, and the ability to lift and carry at least 15 pounds
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee mentoring sessions, students, mentors, and program sites.
- Supervise students’ transportation to and from various program sites and field trips
- Oversee and manage student behavior during the program.
- Facilitate pre-made lesson plans and manage a classroom of 15-20 students
- Track attendance and maintain all relevant program documents for students and volunteers.
- Updating program management and parents on the flow of the program and other pertinent information
- Communicate with mentors on program updates and their student/mentee status.
- Assist instructors during program sessions – Arts & Enrichment Program, Counselor In Training Program
- Communicate with staff as needed to prepare for sessions.
- Fill in during staff absences.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of special events.
- Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting rooms and surfaces used daily.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Focusing on Educating, Enriching, and Empowering Hartford’s Youth
ConnectiKids Inc. is a nonprofit positive youth development organization that focuses on educating, enriching, and empowering Hartford’s youth. We work directly with three elementary schools, West Middle Community School, Dr. James H. Naylor School, and Michael D. Fox Elementary School, with students in kindergarten to fifth grade. We work with one middle school, Martin Luther Jr. Middle School, to serve students in sixth to eighth grade. We provide one-on-one or small group tutoring, mentoring, arts, book club, and enrichment throughout the academic year and summer program during summer break. With these programs, we expose our students to new people, places, and experiences that aid in positive growth and development.
